Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a new patent that suggests the console maker is looking to improve its in-game help features by getting ‘experts’ to provide real-time assistance for players.
While the PS5 does feature Game Help (although it’s not supported by every single title), the patent describes how Sony is exploring way to connect the ‘expert’ and the player so they are able to provide advice.
With higher processing power video games are becoming more complex and expansive. However, with the increasing complexity, users may find it increasingly difficult to navigate through and/or complete the video game. A first expert is assigned to the first player for obtaining assistance. A communication session is generated between a device of the first expert and a device of the first player to enable the first expert to render assistance to the first player.
As with any patent, this doesn’t mean that something is definitely going to materialise for public consumption, but it’s still an interesting development nonetheless.
